What does happiness mean to me?

"When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment and I told them that they didn’t understand life." This small incident in the life of John Lennon, a member of the band Beatles resonated with me because I believe the most important thing is to be happy and enjoy life.
Happiness comes from within. It's knowing who you are and letting that shine. It's being content with the people and the things you have around you. And most importantly, it's just enjoying each day as it comes and never taking a thing for granted.
I find happiness in the simplest of things. A good book, a delicious meal, a beautiful day, someone’s smile, a dog walking down the street, just writing about it makes my heart swell with happiness! We should enjoy the little things, for one day you’ll look back and realize they were the big things.
It’s safe to say that most people want to be happy. They want to enjoy being here in this big, crazy, confusing world. But too many people struggle with being truly happy. They can’t seem to find happiness in life. It really depends on one’s desire always to feel joy, to feel gratitude even when it is difficult to find, to have the right people by the side, or doing a job that somehow brings meaning, direction, and purpose into their lives
I am happy when I create and use my talents for others. It could be anything: A painting for my sister, a simple dish for my mom, playing guitar or nurturing a plant by myself. The process, the result, the learning, I love it all.
The best form of happiness is when you’re happy because you have made someone else happy. I feel  content when I think I was useful to someone else, be it a small help, a piece of sincere advice or even just sharing my soul through a smile.
I associate so many words with this special feeling – my family, my friends, freedom, peace, love and many more.
Happiness doesn’t happen out of anywhere – it has to be worked on; it has to be produced, created, discovered, built from the ground up.  The procedure is quite simple, believe it or not. One must have a conviction to be happy no matter what trouble life throws at them. Sometimes, life can undoubtedly disrupt a person’s happiness, with all the countless and never-ending mishaps and suffering. Nobody wants to suffer in pain, but you need to realize that you can’t have a rainbow without the rain.
The happiest are not the ones who have everything, but rather they are the ones who are thankful for everything they do have. Don’t forget that happiness never decreases by being shared.
So, spread joy and love!
Please share your thoughts and experiences about what happiness means to you!
